Daisy flower
William Morris was a well known British architect whose work made a huge impact on literature, design and politics. Daisy Flower (1864) is one of William Morris's earliest designs as well as his most enduring. Embroidered with the finesse on a pure silk base the pattern is said to bring out the virtues of the daisy flower. Initial inspiration for this piece is said to have come from medieval sources. The main visual impetus came from the 15th century manuscript of Froissart's Chronicles and Chaucer's Legend of Good Women.
